El D.F.

Just like we call our capital D.C. Mexico´s capital city is commonly referred to as the D.F. (District Federal) Here is what I have been eating this week:
I´ve been real curious about Pulque-a fermented beverage made from the maguey cactus with a mild alcohol content. I had one mixed with guayaba from La Hermosa Hortensia at Plaza Garibaldi, apparently a good place to go for it. Tangy, warming, and sort of like kefir, I could have gone for a liter!

Right off of Parque Mexico, in a neighborhood where the dogs and children are just as hip as their parents I spotted Falafelito. A perfect pequeno falafel topped with loads of freshness and complimentary lemonade. Perfect.

Enchiladas Verdes filled with tofu and mashed beans on the side from Gold Taco. Gold Taco is all veggie and has alot of mock meat substitutions for classic Mexican dishes.

Tofu Mexicano from the Green Corner. This place is part sprawling sidewalk eatery and health food store. The menu is so impressive that I am likely to return. This was by far the fanciest dish I´ve eaten in a while.

My first stop was to Vegetariano Yug. This spacious restaurant is all veg and even has a buffet that I will surely be back for.

Molletes Toluquenos (hold the mayonesa, crema, and queso). French bread topped with black beans, aguacate (avocado), pico, and soyrizzo. Eating this while The Game played, one of those priceless moments.

Very good eats! I'd love to try Pulque and the sandwich in the last picture looks so wonderfully refreshing!
