Fonda Antigua,Guanajuato

I like to think I have super powers when it comes to spotting the ¨v¨ word. Especially on a sandwich board in the thick of pedestrian foot traffic. Like something out of my fantasy world, Fonda Antigua not only offers a daily vegetarian special but is decorated with antiques and kitsch, all to the backdrop of The Zombies and Billie Holiday. The comida corrida includes a pitcher of agua fresca, soup, ensalada, meal, and a postre (for example guayabana in syrup) and a basket of hot tortillas). All for 50 pesos (about $4 USD). Everything was so fresh and infused with tlc that I returned more than once.

Sopes! With what I hungrily thought might have been shredded teese cheese is actually zanahoria (carrot), topped with champignon (mushroom) gravy & salsa.
