Aimlessly scrolling through Menu Pages, I came across SproutKraft Cafe located inside the Atmananda yoga studio. I booked on over prior to class to try out some of their all raw all hand made food. I had the almond-sesame raw cheeze plate w/ pickled beets and olives. Also a small glass of their rich kombucha and (not pictured) amazing raw chocolate and carob halva! Chef Chris informed me that they also host classes, so I'll be sure to sign up soon.Sprout Kraft Cafe 324 Lafayette Street btwn E. Houston and Bleeker
Thanks to a hot tip from a classmate, I checked out Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich for the illusive (and cheap) Banh Mi sandwich. Influenced by the French 'salad sandwich', Banh Mi is packed with cilantro, tofu, pickled cabbage, and carrots. I also had their Pennywort drink, sweet and grassy just the way I like it.

Village Natural has been in town for 20 years or so, it has that nautical and understated 70s quality to it. A quiet place to unravel your mind during lunch. Here I had some dumplings and veggies-simple and satisfying.

Tiffin Wallah or "one who carries the box" is a Southern Indian in the heart of 'Curry Hill'. Luckily I have a friend who works in the nabe and so an excuse to go was born. The lunch special is $7.50, it is all vegetarian, and doesn't leave you feeling like you just ate a plate of grease. Lentil dahl, basmati, salad, tasty naan, and mango chutney. Just restrain yourself on the seconds!
On the upper west side to check out the Barnard Zine Library (where a shocking copy of Leslie and mines high school zine Succubi was archived) I checked out Mana Organic Cafe, basically a macrobiotic joint. I had the Soba "Spaghetti" with roasted garlic, broccoli, and sundried tomatoes. Yummalicious.

I MUST try the Banh Mi sandwich! Great post considering the heavy burden of final projects! Can't wait for D to the C.
Minneapolis is weirdly full of banh mi (much to my excitement). In Seattle, it was so hard to find. There was one little joint on Broadway that was good, but I never found it anywhere else in the Emerald City. Here, we're surrounded by it. Actually, I was just in my favorite Vietnamese place this morning, but I opted for mock duck spring rolls with peanut sauce, which I'm looking forward to eating for lunch in a minute.
Can I come with you on your travels?
